Weather in Istria in December: Temperature, Sea & Tips
In December southern Istria is wintry and quiet, but rarely really cold. Daytime temperatures are usually around 11 °C, and around 3 to 4 °C at night. The sea is still around 14 °C. These are the shortest days of the year, with just under nine hours of daylight and about three hours of sunshine on average. Many businesses on the coast take a winter break. In Pula, however, Advent brings a festive atmosphere: in 2025 the Arena became an ice rink, with further venues such as the Forum and Portarata. Whether and how the programme takes place in 2026 is best checked with the tourist board. Otherwise, December is all about cosy days – walks by the sea, Istrian cuisine and evenings by the warm wood-burning oven. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you will find it everywhere on the coast now.
