Weather in Istria in September: Temperature, Sea & Tips
For many, September is the secret favourite. At around 24 °C the sea is still wonderfully warm, and air temperatures drop to a pleasant 24 °C during the day. The sun shines for just under eight hours on average, and now and then thunderstorms or a rainy day bring a pause. Once the summer holidays are over, the beaches empty noticeably, but most restaurants and beach bars are still open. From mid-September, the cheaper shoulder-season rate applies again at Cape Kamenjak. In the hinterland the grape harvest begins, and the main season for white truffles starts. The month is ideal for anyone who wants to combine swimming with hiking, cycling and excursions – without the heat and without the crowds. Evenings on the terrace are often still pleasantly mild.
